Project spotlight: Hunters Hill
This sprawling Hunters Hill mansion is the perfect marriage of heritage architecture, modern design and traditional technique.
The basement level, accommodating a spacious study, was extensively excavated through rock whilst the original sandstone and brick home was suspended above. A complex new steel structured wing with a myriad of interconnecting pieces and integrated windows, louvers and skylights was constructed to replace a previous extension.
The home features a suite of timeless, carefully crafted finishes, including off-form concrete, timber strip flooring, Corian and mirrored walls. The staircase is a central feature of the home, constructed using precision, laser-cut steel. Each piece was meticulously fabricated off-site, delivered, and then assembled and welded by hand, piece by piece.
